About AWS OpsWorks
- About AWS OpsWorks
-
AWS OpsWorks, a configuration management service is preparing to close. Service users benefited from managed instances of Chef and Puppet, automation platforms for server configurations. Three offerings – Chef Automate, Puppet Enterprise, and OpsWorks Stacks were provided. Both Chef Automate and Puppet Enterprise versions maintained servers, phased out self-operated systems, and were compatible with existing code. OpsWorks Stacks managed applications and servers.

AWS OpsWorks for Chef Automate pricing depends on connected nodes to your Chef server & their runtime, along with the Amazon EC2 instance hosting the Chef server. Charges are hourly for each active EC2 instance or on-premises server, with no upfront fees. Charges stop once a Chef node is de-registered or shut down. AWS Free Tier offers 10 free nodes per month for the first year. Extra charges may be levied for services like Amazon Elastic Block Store, S3 for backups, and CloudWatch for logging.
