AWS IoT Events cost saving tips

Optimize your AWS IoT Events costs with these tips

Processing events in groups as opposed to individually can significantly reduce compute costs, by lowering the overall compute time per message.

Implement strategies like data compression and archiving before persisting it to reduce storage costs over time.

Monitor usage and decommission unused IoT components (detectors, rules, actions) to avoid unnecessary costs.

AWS IoT Events pricing

AWS IoT Events operates on a usage basis with no mandatory costs or compulsory service use. 'Message evaluations' are billed in 1 KB chunks when the event detector reviews an incoming message. Each evaluation initiating up to 2 external actions is viewed as a new message evaluation. No extra charge is applied for triggering up to two actions per evaluation. If more than two actions are activated, they're billed as extra evaluations. Each active alarm, a rule-based alert, costs $0.10/month.
