It facilitates push-based messaging between systems and customer communication via SMS, notifications, and email. Amazon SNS offers features like FIFO messaging, encrypted messages, event fanning from over 60 AWS services, and supports SMS delivery in 240+ countries.

Amazon Simple Notification Service (SNS) costs depend on usage; there are no upfront or long-term contract fees. The pricing hinges on the type of topic used (Standard or FIFO), the frequency of monthly API requests, and the number of deliveries to varying endpoints (costs vary by type). The first 1 million Amazon SNS requests/month are free. A 64KB published data chunk equals one request. Fees are tabulated and billed monthly.
