Amazon EventBridge cost saving tips

Optimize your Amazon EventBridge costs with these tips

Review Rules & Targets

Make sure to frequently check your EventBridge rules and targets. Deactivate or delete outdated ones to prevent incurring unnecessary charges.

Filter Events at Source

You should consider filtering events at the root level to only publish absolutely essential event data. Publishing large payloads may result in higher costs.

Utilize Retry Policies

EventBridge includes built-in retry policies which automatically resend events to targets during failures. This helps prevent cost increases from resending duplicate events.

Amazon EventBridge pricing

Amazon EventBridge's cost depends on events published to your bus, and events used for schema discovery and replay. No extra fees for rules or event delivery. AWS services' state change events are free. Payload size matters, each 64 KB chunk is billed as an event. Extra charges for cross-Region invocations. Billing for custom events at the global endpoint is separate. E.g., if SaaS app publishes 5 million events/month, charges are $5/month.
