Looking for a way to get a 5% discount on AWS without migrating your infrastructure? With AWS Billing Transfer, ElasticScale can help SaaS companies reduce their AWS costs by transferring billing responsibility to ElasticScale while keeping their own AWS environment.
What is AWS Billing Transfer?
AWS Billing Transfer is a feature within AWS that allows the payment responsibility of an AWS account or AWS Organization to be transferred to another billing administrator. In practice, this means your AWS environment technically remains yours, but billing runs through ElasticScale. We take over the billing and can apply our AWS advantage. As a result, you can receive a discount on your AWS costs. So you do not need to move or rebuild your entire infrastructure. This is primarily about the billing side of AWS.
How ElasticScale helps you get an AWS discount
ElasticScale helps SaaS companies make their AWS infrastructure more secure, scalable, and cost-efficient. We do this through:
- AWS consultancy for architecture, migrations, security, and cost optimization.
- ES Foundation, our managed AWS platform for SaaS companies that want less infrastructure complexity.
- Practical support with managing, optimizing, and simplifying AWS environments.
Many SaaS teams want to focus on building their product. Not on constantly dealing with AWS configurations, security, monitoring, cost structures, and scalability challenges. That is where we help.
With AWS Billing Transfer, we now also make it easier to get immediate value from your existing AWS usage.
How the AWS discount works
- ElasticScale reviews your AWS setup. Alex checks whether Billing Transfer is suitable for your organization.
- ElasticScale sends a Billing Transfer invitation. The invitation is sent through AWS.
- You accept the invitation in AWS. The customer approves the billing transfer from their own AWS console.
- AWS billing moves to ElasticScale. The AWS environment remains yours, but invoicing runs through ElasticScale.
- You receive a discount on AWS. ElasticScale applies the agreed AWS discount to your AWS costs.
Important: you remain in control of your AWS environment. Your accounts, workloads, and technical setup remain yours. The change is in how billing is handled.
What do you need to do as a customer?
You only need to go through a few steps:
- Feel free to plan a 15 minute introduction with us through Calendly or give us a call (+31 8 5333 2801). To let us know you are interested in receiving a discount on your AWS costs through Billing Transfer. Alex from ElasticScale will contact you to briefly discuss how your AWS environment is currently set up and whether Billing Transfer is the right fit.
- You receive an invitation through AWS. Once everything is aligned, we send the Billing Transfer invitation through AWS.
- You accept the invitation. After acceptance, billing is transferred to ElasticScale. Starting from the agreed month, you benefit from the discount through ElasticScale.
Why AWS Billing Transfer is interesting for SaaS companies
For many SaaS companies, AWS costs are a recurring monthly expense. A discount on those costs can have an immediate impact, without requiring major technical changes.
AWS Billing Transfer is especially interesting if you:
- already use AWS;
- have substantial monthly AWS costs;
- want to reduce your cloud costs;
- do not want to lose time on complex changes;
- prefer support from an experienced AWS partner;
- may want to further optimize your infrastructure in the future.
Good to know before you start
Before accepting Billing Transfer, it is wise to review your current invoices, reporting, and historical cost data. AWS indicates that certain historical cost data may no longer be available in the same way to the original account after the transfer.
That is why we guide you through the process carefully. This way, you know exactly what changes and what you may need to download or record before the transfer is activated.
FAQ discount on AWS with AWS billing transfer
1. Can ElasticScale access my AWS account after the billing transfer?
No, this is purely an administrative setup. We can not access your AWS account. You can also always move back to self billing. But then you would lose the discount.
2. How is billing handled?
For EU customers we invoice in EUR with B2B SEPA incasso, on the 15th of the month with the exchange rate that AWS communicates to us. There is a 14 day net payment term. For US customers we also bill you in EUR, payment can be done through Creditcard.
3. Do you have other services available?
Yes we have special discounts on CloudFront and reduced AWS support costs. Contact us for more information.
